Once you have distilled your alcohol it is essential to filter out any unwanted flavours, smells and by-products that end up in the distillate.

These by-products need to be removed to ensure they do not interfere with the delicate balance of essential oils and compounds that make up the flavour components in our Spirit and Liqueur essences.

Still Spirits offer two types of filters.

Granulated Carbon Filter

Z Carbon Filter. This filter offers 750mm length of carbon chamber so the spirit must pass by 750mm of carbon, this emulates the depth of most commercial carbon filtration systems. The unique down - up - down path of the spirit also help to make sure there is plenty of contact with the carbon.

The advantages;

• Plenty of contact with carbon.
• Filters poor quality spirit to high finish.
• Ideal for all spirit filtration but in particular will produce high quality spirit from stills that product alcohol at less the 80% abv.

Filter - Z Carbon Filter

Consumables - Small Filter Papers, Z Carbon

Cartridge Carbon Filter.

Cartridge filters are gaining rapidly in popularity due mostly to convenience. Simply change a cartridge for your next batch rather than emptying out granular carbon and washing the filter before recharging it with new granulated carbon.

The cartridges supplied by Still Spirits are produced with a combination of carbon ideal for treating distilled alcohol. The pore structure required for the by-products of distilled alcohol are different say than those required for water filtration.

Due to the compressed nature of the cartridges the alcohol is forced past a vast amount of active pores so filtration is assured. The Carbon Cartridges are best suited to quick filtration of alcohol from stills producing alcohol above 80% abv as well as spirit produced from triple Distilled Turbo from any still.

The advantages;

• Easy to use
• Quick treatment (Most of the time. Cartridges may vary in density resulting in slower filtration times.)
• No messy granulated carbon to deal with.
