Spiked Mulled Cider

What could be better on a cold winter's evening than a spiked mulled cider? Spiked with either spiced rum or apple brandy, this drink will be sure to warm you up!

Ingredients

  • 4 Cups Apple Cider or Unfiltered Apple Juice

  • 1 Star Anise

  • 4 Whole Cloves

  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks

  • Fresh or Dried Ginger (1 cm Fresh or 1/8 tsp Dried)

  • 4 Strips Orange Peel

  • 120 ml (4 oz) Dark spirit of your choice (we love our Top Shelf Dark Spiced Rum or Top Shelf Apple Brandy  (pre-mixed) for this recipe!) 

 Directions

  • Place all of the ingredients except for the spirit into a small pan and warm gently over low heat. Bring it to just below a simmer for 30 minutes. You can also use a slow cooker on a low heat for about 4 hours.

  • Remove from the heat and stir in the spirit.

  • Strain to remove the spices then pour into glasses.
  • Garnish with a cinnamon stick and serve.
